Today I created a lantern from an item you can find in your home, a toilet paper roll.
I started by picking five different colors of cardstock. Taking a sheet of the cardstock and I cut 1-1/2 inches from the end of the 8-1/2 side of the cardstock. I then started cutting up to about the 1/2-inch mark to create the fringe. I did this for all the cardstock pieces. Using tear and tape, I applied it to each of the fringes, and starting at the bottom, I wrapped one of the fringes. Then I continued with each strip of cardstock. I added a piece of basic white around the top edge and punched holes on each side and added ribbon for the hanger. You could leave the hanger off and use it as a centerpiece for your table. Just add a tealight for a nice evening glow.
