Today’s technique is a wiper card. I had never heard of one so researched the internet for samples and tutorials. Found that a wiper card is a pop-up card with a swinging part that pops up with a swiping motion when both ends of the card are pulled and then when you push it in the wiper swipes down, just like a windshield wiper does.
Here is the wiper card using the sneak peek Bee Mine from the Jan-April 2024 spring mini catalog.

This card is so adorable and “buzzing” with textures and dimensions.

As you start to stretch the card, you can see the bee popping up. This chubby little is buzzing with delight.

Here is a close look at him. He is a happy cheeky fellow!
Here is the supply list and step-by-step instructions.
- Card base cardstock-Two 4-1/4″ x 8-1/2″ pieces of Cardstock
- One 1-1/2″ x 3″ piece for “wiper”
- Basic White cardstock for stamping
- Nested Essential Dies
- Bee Mine Suite
- Inks of your choice
- Tear & Tape
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Embellishments of choice
- Score both card base pieces at 1-1/2\” and 3.
- Fold on the score lines with the first fold valley and the second fold (near the large section) mountain fold. Repeat for the second piece.
- Take the “wiper” piece and with a ruler and pencil make a mark at 1-1/2″ on the long side. Score from the top right corner to the mark you made.
- Fold your score line, turn it around, and decorate the top with dsp or a stamped image.
- Add tear & tape on the scored triangle on the bottom of the strip (only add adhesive to your triangle, if you put over the entire bottom strip then the wiper will not work.)
- Take one of the card base pieces and lay it down with your score pieces to the right. This is the back side of the card front. Adhere the wiper, the image facing down, between the two score lines next to the large section. Line up the end of your diagonal score with the edge of the card front. (see diagram.
- Add tear & tape to the edge of the large section and on the last fold.
- Take your second card base and over the other card base. Make sure the score lines of the second piece are on the opposite end.
- Turn the card around and decorate the front panel and the other panels as desired.
Now, let’s head over to our next demonstrator, Diane Evans of Stampin With Diane, and see what they have created for the hop.
