Toil and Trouble Card

Today I am showing you an Online Exclusive bundle, Potions and Spells.

Using the new 2024-2026 In Colors with Potion and Spells bundle than the normal Halloween colors we are used to seeing. Used cardstocks in Shy Shamrock and Pretty In Pink and then paired them with the Online Exclusives DSP of Iconic Celebrations. Also using the 2024-2026 In Color Glimmer paper for some of the designs and no card can go without some type of bling.

I am also using an item that someone might not think would go with crafting. For my Potion and Spells broom handle, I cut down an iridescent pink straw. Have you used something that is not normally used in crafting? If so, leave me a comment as to what you used in your crafting. Now for the tutorial of this adorable Potion and Spells card.

Double, Double Toil & Trouble Card

Step-by-step instructions

Cardstock base and card layers
  • Start with a piece of Shy Shamrock cardstock and cut it down to 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ and score it at 4-1/4″.
  • Cut a piece of Pretty In Pink down to 5-1/4″ x 4″ and add this to the card base with liquid glue.
  • Now cut a piece of the Iconic Celebrations DSP down to 5″ x 3-3/4″ and adhere to the Pretty In Pink layer.
Stamping, coloring and die cutting images
  • Stamp the Potion and Spells books and kettle in Tuxedo Black ink onto Basic White cardstock and die cut the with the coordinating dies.
  • Next, color in the kettle with Stampin’ Blends Medium SU500, the books in Light and Dark Real Red, SU600, Dark Wild Wheat and Light and Dark Azure Afternoon.
  • Now using the Potion and Spells broom brush and kettle overflow, die cut them from the glimmer paper, using Shy Shamrock for kettle overflow and die cut two of these and Peach Pie for the broom brush.
  • Using the number 2 Deckled Rectangle die (see diagram A below), die cut a piece of Pretty In Pink cardstock.
  • Die cut Potion and Spells broom stick from cardstock color of choice or cut down a straw to create the Potin and Spells broom stick, which is what I did.
Adhering pieces and stamping sentiment
  • Place dimensionals on back of the Potion and Spells kettle, broom brush and on left side of the books.
  • Adhere Potion and Spells kettle to bottom center of card front, add the broom brush to the right side of kettle and the books to the left side (see photo for reference).
  • Next, adhere one of the Shy Shamrocks kettle overflows with liquid glue and then add the second one with dimensionals slightly offsetting and overlapping the other overflow (see photo for reference).
  • Add your Potion and Spells broom stick behind the broom brush with liquid glue.
  • Add dimensionals to the back of the Deckled piece and adhere to card front top left.
  • Stamp sentiment onto Basic White cardstock in Shy Shamrock ink. Fussy cut the Potion and Spells sentiment “Double, Double, Toil & Trouble” and adhere with dimensionals to the deckled piece.
  • Finally, add three of the Adhesive-Backed Shiny Sequins to the right of the sentiment.

Loving the non-traditional look of the Potion and Spells card. Would you have created it in non-traditional Halloween colors or stay with the traditional Halloween colors? I would love to read which you prefer by leaving me a comment.

Now let us hop on over to our next demonstrator to see their bloggers choice post.
